Homicide squad investigate fatal Surrey hotel shooting – Campbell River Mirror
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is investigating a fatal shooting at a hotel in Surrey on Monday July 4.
Police were called to a parking lot at the Days Inn hotel, located at 13373 King George Blvd. in the Whalley neighborhood at 4:57 p.m. after a report of gunshots, according to a statement from Surrey RCMP. Police add that the shooting appears to be targeted.
Police said when officers arrived they found a man in “medical distress with apparent gunshot wounds”.
“Despite all attempts to resuscitate the individual, he succumbed to his injuries,” the statement said.
Surrey RCMP say a suspicious vehicle, described as ‘a silver Infiniti older model four-door saloon, was seen fleeing the area’. Now police are investigating whether a burned-out vehicle, found in the area of 96 Avenue and 124 Street shortly after, is linked to the homicide.
Police add that no suspect description is currently available and that police are looking for witnesses or people with dash cam footage of the area to contact police.
