KBC Jubilee Football Trophy kick off

Kohima, October 18 (EMN): A total of 27 teams from 26 churches comprising only the men’s department/community fathers are vying for the 2022 Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC) Football Jubilee Trophy, which kicked off on Thursday.

The trophy’s inaugural function, hosted by KBC in commemoration of its Silver Jubilee celebration with the theme “Pressing for Goal”, was held at Meriema Ground in Kohima.


Pesocha Baptist Church Council (PBCC) Executive Secretary Medoneiu Usou, who graced the inaugural ceremony as a guest of the trophy, appreciated the organizers for bringing together people from various churches for sports and fellowship.

He compared sport to faith and urged participants to be diligent in their faith and be good stewards like a player on the court.

Besides, Usou also asked the players to show good sportsmanship.

Earlier, Reverend Zotuo Kiewhuo, founding pastor of KBC, in his keynote speech told the players to show real sportsmanship, physically and spiritually.

The host of the organizing committee, Neizokhotuo Belho, delivered the welcome speech and Rokopra Mekro was sworn in to the teams.

Meanwhile, in the inaugural match, Christ King Church (CKC) defeated Touphema BC 8-0. Interestingly, Dierhevituo Benedict, 62, scored a goal for CKC.
